​Hyderabad: In a major drive to curb the growing menace of drug smuggling between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana state excise enforcement officials on Tuesday seized a huge haul of ganja at Abdullapurmet on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The excise officials apprehended two accused of an inter-state smuggling gang and seized 102 kg of ganja, a car and two mobiles from the possession of the accused.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Excise C Vivekananda Reddy, the enforcement team on suspicion apprehended a person by name V Srinivas (26) near the TV tower at Malakpet and seized 2 Kg of ganja from him. On interrogation it is revealed that he along with his associate B Ashok Teja (26) came from Narsipatnam in Andhra Pradesh to sell ganja in Hyderabad.

On a tip off from Srinivas, the enforcement team rushed to Abdullapurmet and found a Swift Desire car parked near the highway, on the road leading to Bata Singaram. They seized 100 kg of dry ganja (50 pockets of 2 kg each) from the car bearing the registration no AP07BX3555. The officials also apprehended B Ashok Teja on the spot.

During the interrogation, it is revealed that Srinivas started supplying ganja to the sellers at Dhoolpet, Katedan and Narayankhed, in small quantities during the last one year. Gradually, he increased the quantities to the level of 100 Kg . The receivers at Hyderabad are being identified basing on the mobile numbers and information given by Srinivas (A1), resident of Tamaram village in Makavaram Palem mandal of Visakhapatnam district.

The accused used to collect ganja from Paderu, Chintapally, Narsipatnam areas at Rs 1,500 per Kg and selling the same at Rs 4,000 to their clients at Hyderabad. The city buyers are selling at whopping Rs 10,000 per kg (Rs 100 for 10 grams) to the customers.
