Tyre burst leaves 3 dead in Kodad

Kodad (Suryapet): In a gruesome road accident, three persons were killed on the spot and five others suffered serious injuries when the cars they were travelling in rammed into each other. The accident took place near Komarabanda bypass road in Kodad mandal on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway on Wednesday early hours when the tyres of one of the ill-fated cars burst.

The deceased were identified as Akkeneni Murali, his wife Kavitha and their daughter Dhanusha (16). Murali’s son Krishna suffered injuries in the accident.

According to police, Murali along with his family members was returning to Hyderabad from Nuziveedu of Andhra Pradesh in a car. When their car reached Komarabanda junction of Kodad mandal, the tyres of their car burst and car jumped over the median hitting the other two cars bound to Vijayawada.

In the incident, Murali, his wife and daughter died instantaneously and five other persons, who were travelling in other two cars that were heading towards Vijayawada, were badly injured. After receiving information, SP Raavirala Venkateshwarlu rushed to the spot and monitored the rescue operations.

Speaking to the media, the SP informed that over speeding of the car lead to tyre burst that resulted in loss of three lives. He said the injured persons were rushed to nearby hospital for treatment. Kodad rural police registered a case and took up the investigation.
