​Hyderabad: Many districts in Telangana are in the grip of severe cold wave with minimum temperatures plummeting below ten degrees. The Meteorological Department predicted that severe cold wave conditions would continue all through these weekdays.

Night temperatures in various districts fell by 4 to 8 degrees from the normal temperatures. With six degrees night temperature Medak district resembled the freezing Adilabad district, where minimum temperature was locked at 5 degrees for more than a week.

Residents of Hyderabad had to come to grips with the chilliest day of the season and one of the lowest in last decade.
The minimum temperature recorded on Monday was 9 degrees. Temperatures in the weekend were recorded at 10 degrees and 11 degrees respectively and from Sunday night to Monday morning, it further dropped below ten degrees.
People in Warangal, Ramagundam had no respite from the chilling weather as minimum temperature was seen at 9 degrees, similar to Hyderabad.

According to Met authorities, severe cold wave conditions would continue for the next two days in Adilabad, Nirmal, Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Peddapally, Medak, Warangal (Rural) districts. Night temperatures in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli, Warangal (U), Bhadradri Kothagudam would also be below the normal for the next two days.

IMD Hyderabad Director YK Reddy said that severe cold wave conditions would continue in North Telangana districts for few more days. The big drop in temperatures was due to the effect of northerly winds coming from the Northern part of India into Telangana.
