Hanamkonda: It’s nothing but Naqli kusthi in Telangana and Asli dosthi in Delhi, the CPI (M) Politburo Member Brinda Karat said, terming the showdown of the TRS and the BJP as fictitious. Speaking to media persons here on Monday, she said about the emergence of Bahujan Left Front (BLF), a consortium of several political parties and social fora.
“The BLF is born out of the struggle for social and economic justice,” she said, alleging that TRS, Congress and BJP have become a threat to Dalits, poor and the downtrodden. She said that the Left Front is formed not just in view of the forthcoming elections but for achieving overall development of the State.
In its four-and-a-half-year rule, the TRS government had worked for its vested interests instead of focusing on taking the State forward, Brinda Karat said, alleging that there was a secret pact between the BJP and the TRS.
“The TRS leadership has always supported the BJP-led NDA government in regard with various issues. In fact, the TRS is acting like a junior partner of the BJP. Like the Centre, the State had also ignored the welfare of the farmers. In Modi-raj, thousands of farmers ended their lives and it was no different in the TRS government,” she alleged.
Neither there was minimum support price for farmers’ produce nor any measure to address the problems of the Adivasis especially Podu cultivators, she said, criticising both the Centre and the State governments for their blithe concern.
Referring to the poll pact of the Congress-Telugu Desam Party in the Assembly elections, she expressed surprise over the deal between the two parties. “First of all, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu needs to look into the crisis the farmers in his State were facing. It’s ridiculous to see TDP chief, who diluted Land Acquisition Act in his State, vouching for justice to the displaced in Telangana,” Brinda Karat said.
She equated the People’s Front (Praja Kutami) as a platform to achieve ‘Chair’ rather than mitigating the issues faced by the people. Against this backdrop, Telangana needs an alternative to lead the State for which BLF is a safe bet, she added, appealing to people to vote for Dadaboina Srikanth Yadav,
who is contesting from Warangal West constituency as the BLF candidate. CPM Warangal Urban Secretary Sarampally Vasudeva Reddy was among others present. Earlier, Brinda Karat also campaigned for the BF candidate.
