Chikkadpally: The residents at Chikkadpally are suffering from the smoke emissions from a biscuit factory located in the middle of the area. They have been requesting the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to move the factory to outskirts of the city. Earlier, the smoke emission levels were very high, but it was reduced after a complaint to the factory management and PCB. However, the emissions have not completely stopped causing air pollution level on the higher side. The problem is that the said biscuit manufacturing company is in the middle of the city right next to a residential area in violation to the GHMC norms. The factory emits huge amount of smoke and residents are forced to inhale the toxic air.

Pratyusha, a resident at Chikkadpally said, “There are continuous smoke emissions from the factory causing air pollution in the area. The pollution in the air gives a typical foul smell, which is just disturbing our livelihood. This factory has been here for 15 years. We are just worried that the smoke will start impacting our health.” When contacted, officials said, “The team has been informed about the issue and will look into it.”
