Gadwal: Gadwal constituency in Jogulamaba Gadwal district is all set to witness an interesting fight between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Congress. Election campaigning is picking pace and getting fiercer between the candidates representing the TRS and the Congress, Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy TRS and Congress sitting MLA D K Aruna.
D K Aruna, who has been consistently winning as MLA from Gadwal constituency for the past three elections between 2004 and 2014, has set her foot so strong that she is a very popular political face in the constituency. She is once again claiming stake and putting all efforts and pooling each and every resource to retain the prestigious Gadwal seat. However, on the other hand Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy is D K Aruna’s nephew. He is leaving no stone unturned to win the Gadwal MLA seat in the upcoming elections for the TRS party.
According to political analysts, if one looks at the pros and cons of DK Aruna, she is having very strong oratory skills and has the charisma to attract the masses towards her side. While on the other hand, there are a section of people who are not happy with the pace of development going on in Gadwal during her regime. “D K Aruna has been elected as Gadwal MLA for three terms, however the lives of people here have not changed much. Gadwal is backward educationally, employment problem is acute and the district is also reeling under poverty. Child labour, violation of child rights, migration and lack of road and other infrastructure are left where they are. But, after KCR has come to power, we have observed remarkable changes, and, in my opinion, we should change our leader for every five years, or else they will take us for granted,” said Kishore, a resident of Gadwal and local political analyst.
Bandla Krishna Mohan, who is the young face of the TRS party, had been actively participating in the election campaign for the past one month, soon after KCR announced his name from Gadwal constituency. He is hugely cashing on the success of the welfare and development programmes of the TRS government during the past four-and-a-half year. Though last time he had lost the elections against DK Aruna, this time Bandla Krishna Mohan is confident that he will win the upcoming elections and break Aruna’s monopoly.
“TRS party is having advantage on two fronts, one is welfare and development programmes are well received by the people, while the second is his advantage of reaching out to the people for election campaigning. He has got ample time to meet each and every household in the constituency, which the Congress party candidate does not have,” Kishore said.
Overall, with people reckoning the welfare and development projects of the TRS government very well, the TRS candidate from Gadwal may give a tough fight to DK Aruna and it may not be surprising if he wins the next elections. Currently after the withdrawal process is completed 14 candidates are contesting from Gadwal. Of them DK Aruna from Congress, Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy from TRS, Veera Prasad Reddy from BSP and G Venkatadri Reddy from BJP are in fray.
