Hyderabad: The city-based entrepreneurs Prashanth Lingam and Devendra Rajulapati have come up with first of its kind eco-friendly resort made totally of bamboo shoots set up at Araku in Visakhapatnam. The entrepreneurs have been successful in marketing cost-effective and eco-friendly bamboo houses which are trending and in demand also. Now this idea of green resorts has received rave reviews and generated a lot of interests in the hotel and tourism sector. The main aim of constructing Sri Lahiri Bamboo Resorts is to give a vintage feel to the tourists who wish to spend their time close to the nature. The water and termite proof bamboo huts don a temperature of 3-Deg lesser than the outside temperature and even without a fan the resort maintains a cool atmosphere.
Prashanth Lingam and Aruna Kappagantula started Bamboo House India and built over 150 bamboo houses in Hyderabad. Those who are curious to know whether bamboo houses last long or not, as per the studies bamboo has greater tensile strength than steel, and it withstands compression better than concrete.
Bamboo House India CEO Prashanth Lingam said, “We wanted a complete eco-friendly resort where travelers can experience a simple village and environment-friendly holiday away from the concrete hustle-bustle city life and hotels and lodges. We want the green resort visitors to realise that by choosing to stay in bamboo resort, they have supported environment and hundreds of rural and tribal livelihoods with this project.”
Devendra Rajulapati, a software employee whose idea was Bamboo Resorts, said, “I work for a software company in Hyderabad and I am from Visakhapatnam, I travel on the weekends to monitor the resort activities. It is the passion that was the driving force that resulted in building the first of its kind of resort in entire India. The response to the bamboo resorts is excellent for its unique appearance and many of them were surprised at their first visit.” The whole structure is built on an area of 12 ft x 25 ft, out of which, a vast room is made in the area of 12 ft x 20 ft consisting of attached washroom, balcony and a 12 x 12 size bedroom. Bamboo shoots are strong enough to hold the geysers attached to the walls, he adds. The construction cost of the Bamboo resorts is Rs 45 lakh in total.
