Congress, TRS resorting to appeasement politics: Amit Shah

Hyderabad: BJP chief Amit Shah, promising development in Adilabad and Nalgonda districts, on Wednesday came down heavily on TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Congress for resorting to appeasement politics which he said were illegal and unconstitutional. Addressing public meetings at the two places, the saffron party chief said in Adilabad, had Adivasi leaders like Komaram- Bheem not fought against the Razakars of the erstwhile Nizam state, he might have to take a passport to visit Adilabad. Further, as part of the appeasement politics both the TRS and Congress have stopped celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day, he added.
He termed Congress, TRS, Communists and Kodandaram (of TJS) will not free the State from the Majlis designs to remote control the government and it was the only BJP which will checkmate it. Further, he accused KCR of denying the reservations due to the STs in the State by clubbing the same with the 12 per cent reservation proposal for the Muslim minorities.
He said that the TRS people’s representatives had not only voiced support for those illegally coming into the country, but also they did not oppose separate information technology corridor for Muslim minorities and called such programmes of development based on religion are not only illegal but also unconstitutional. Competing with the TRS, the Congress has gone a step forward and in its electoral manifesto all set to provide reservations for Muslim minorities in the government contracts.
Not enough, the "leaked" portion of the manifesto of the Congress intends to provide free power to mosques and churches, besides enhanced honorarium to the Imams of mosques. He said the Congress has also been proposing to reserve a quota for teachers for Urdu languages. This makes people not able to get teacher jobs unless they know the Urdu language.
Going further, Shah said that the Congress also intends to promote an additional Rs 20 lakh for Muslim minority students for study abroad programme, as well as construct sperate residential schools and hospitals for minorities.
Terming this attitude of Congress as one not new, the BJP said that earlier the then Congress Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had announced that the minorities have the primary right on the national resources. However, contrary to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that the first right on the national resources rest with the poor and backward people.
Accusing the Congress of insulting and belittling the self-respect of Telugu people, he said: "Earlier, the then Congress MP Rajiv Gandhi had insulted AP Chief Minister T Anjaiah. Also, former PM P V Narasimha Rao's mortal remains had been denied entry into the Congress headquarters for people to pay their last respects."
That apart, it had divided the united Andhra Pradesh in such a way making people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana feel discontent against one another, he pointed. Charging KCR making false promises, he said the TRS chief had promised to construct an airport in 350 acres in Adilabad, construction of 18 water tanks, construction of a town hall. But, none of them is fulfilled.
On the top of that KCR has denied people of Adilabad the benefits of housing units under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) under which the neighbouring Maharashtra had completed construction of about 1.5 lakh houses in Vidharba and Marathwada regions.
Shah promised people of Adilabad to revive the Cotton Corporation of India and ensure a proper mechanism for the cotton farmers get the minimum support prices (MSP) for their produce. Besides, he also assured to make Green Adilabad.
In his Munugodu public meeting, stating that both the TRS and Congress are family-ruled parties, the BJP chief asked KCR as to what had happened his promise of construction of 30-bed hospital in every mandal in the State. He also asked what the chief minister has been doing in the last four-and-a-half years to address the fluoride issue when people, young and children are suffering from the fluorosis.
He charged the State government for allowing the pharmaceutical companies to let out effluents resulting in the contamination of groundwater causing kidney problems to the local people. Asking people to vote BJP to power, he asked the BJP government will complete the Nakkala Gandi project in the district to provide water. Later, the BJP chief has participated a roadshow in the Musheerabad Assembly segment in the evening.
