Sikhs from all over the world celebrate the 549th birthday celebrations Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev from November 19 to 23

Hyderabad: Sikhs from all over the world celebrate the 549th birthday celebrations (Prakash Utsav) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev from November 19 to 23. Holy processions will be taken out today by Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj. Another procession will be conducted by Gurudwara Saheb of Secunderabad on Wednesday. A mass congregation will be held at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, from 10.30 am to 4 pm on Friday.

The Nagar Keertan from Afzalgunj will pass through Siddiamber Bazar, Jambagh, Putli Bowli, and Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda and reach Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Afzalgung, in the evening at around 9 pm. Over 20,000 devotees from across the state are expected to take part in the procession. Guru Granth Sahebji (the revered holy scripture of the Sikhs) will be carried on a decorated vehicle, along with Nishaan Sahebans (Religious Flags) all along the procession. The Holy Procession will be marked by rendering holy hymns. Besides that ‘Panj Pyare’ (five beloved ones) played in traditional attire will be the cynosure in the procession.
