Hyderabad: Rebel trouble continues to haunt the Congress as several leaders have raised a banner of revolt against the party for denying tickets. On Friday as many as 10 Congress leaders have come together and announced to form a front and to file nominations as rebels. The leaders led by Boda Janardhan announced their intention at a media meet.
Janardhan said that they have decided to form a front called Telangana Rebels Front and decided to file their nominations for 40 Assembly constituencies. He said that they have held a meeting on Thursday and resolved in this direction.
He was supported by former minister S Vijayarama Rao, party leader Kyama Mallesh, former MLA Bikshapathi Yadav and others. Several other leaders of the Congress have also joined him.
The Rebels Front has decided to fight on a common symbol and leaders of the Front are exploring the possibilities of getting a common electoral symbol to them.
The leaders said that they want to show who are the real winners in the Assembly constituencies, whether the official nominees or the rebels. They alleged that though the Congress says that it has selected candidates with the help of surveys, the same was not reflected in selection of candidates.
Leaders in waiting
On the other hand, the Congress has kept several important leaders in waiting for the confirmation of tickets. These leaders whose names were not figured in the first two lists are eagerly waiting for the announcement.
Leaders like Marri Shashidhar Reddy, Ponnala Laxmaiah, D Sudhir Reddy and Addanki Dayakar are waiting to know their fate as the third list of the Congress would be announced on Saturday.
The AICC secretary for Telangana Bose Raju has announced on Friday at Delhi that exercise on the remaining 18 seats of the Congress has been completed and the list would be announced on Saturday.
The Congress is yet to announce candidates and seats to be left to the alliance partners in about 21 places. It has to announce candidates for Wardhannapet, Warangal West, Warangal East, Jangaon, Huzurabad, Nizamabad Urban, Nizamabad Rural, Balkonda, Narayanapet, Makthal, Dubbaka, Siddipet, Medak, Tungaturthi, Miryalaguda, Illendu, Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, Yakutpura, Karwan and Patancheru. Among these seats two or three would be left to the alliance partners.
The AICC has settled the issue of LB Nagar and Jangaon constituencies and said that they would be contested by it. It has told aspirant of Jangaon constituency Ponnala Laxmaiah to discuss the issue with Telangana Jana Samithi president Kodandaram.
Tickets distribution from tomorrow
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy returned to Hyderabad on Friday after completing the selection of candidates at Delhi. He would distribute the tickets to the party candidates from Saturday.
He would meet the alliance partners on Saturday and is likely to announce the Common Minimum Programme. He may take steps to calm down the leaders who have raised a banner of revolt against the party.
