Green Initiative : 6 more e-vehicles added to zoo fleet
In order to promote green initiatives and meet the increased demand for batteryoperated vehicles for the visitors of Nehru Zoological Park NZP, a total of six vehicles, which include five 10seater and one 14seater were launched

Bahadurpura: In order to promote green initiatives and meet the increased demand for battery-operated vehicles for the visitors of Nehru Zoological Park (NZP), a total of six vehicles, which include five 10-seater and one 14-seater were launched.
Chief Secretary (TS) Shailendra Kumar Joshi along with Ajay Mishra, Principal Secretary, EFS&T (TS) also introduced a newly-procured 20-seater air-conditioned van for the comfortable tour of safari rides.
During his visit the Chief Secretary reviewed the working of the Zoo Park, besides flagging off the vehicles. With the introduction of latest e-vehicles vehicles, the total number has gone up to 49, which the zoo authorities feel would ease some of the congestion problem during the weekends and holiday season.
The Chief Secretary flagged off these vehicles along with the children of Government Primary School, Tadban, who enjoyed a round of the zoo.
According to zoo officials, the new vehicles were introduced on public demand and the new A/C 20-seater van meant for the safari rides would make the visitors comfortable, particularly during summer.
“The visitors can now enjoy their safari park ride without any sweat and heat waves,” informed the officials.
Taking a ride of the safari park along with the forest officials, the Chief Secretary appreciated the maintenance and the upkeep of park.
During the ride, he recalled about his visit to the place while being an IAS probationary officer. Since then, he noted that there has been a lot of changes, especially improved facilities for the visitors.
The Chief Secretary also inaugurated the newly-constructed booking counter at the toy train railway station close to the entrance. He also visited the mouse deer breeding facility at the zoo and appreciated the efforts of the officers in conserving the species.
P Raghuveer, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Munindra, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Admin) & Dr Sidhanand Kukrety, Director, Zoo parks, (TS), accompanied him during his visit.
Lauding the efforts in bringing improvements, CS Shailendra Joshi said the zoo management was in forefront in making the NZP one of the best zoos in the world and doing ground-breaking work in the field of conservation, breeding of wild animals and educational activities.
Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin, Assistant Conservator of Forests, G Gnyaneshwar, M. Bhavani Shankar and Assistant Curators were present at the launching ceremony.
