Civic problems plague Serilingampally village

Serilingampally: Problems like inadequate drainage, pothole-filled roads, rising menace of fleas and mosquitoes and people falling sick, plague this village, close to Hi-Tech City, which is predominantly habited by people belonging to weaker sections. The drainage system is virtually paralysed although the Old Serilingampally village took shape five decades back. As a result, sewerage from the decaying drains which are on the verge of collapse overflows onto roads giving rise to unbearable stink. Sewerage from a drain adjacent to the government school is entering nearby houses as it has not been closed, a housewife Hima Bindu informed The Hans India. Besides, drinking water is getting polluted. The villagers while speaking to THI poured out their woes complaining about diseases being caused by mosquitoes and other insects.

There are deep potholes on roads making it impossible for the residents to even walk, they allege. Accidents have been occurring frequently on the Lingampally road from Serilingampally railway under-bridge to Serilingampally bus stop which has ditches. There are allegations that although the municipal officials have visited the spots and inspected the roads the problem remains unsolved. A villager Mallikarjun Yadav told THI that there is an urgent need to immediately improve the drainage, which is leaking and giving rise to fleas and mosquitoes and more sick people. Elderly persons and children are facing severe hardships. He wants officials and ruling classes to respond promptly to this serious problem and take remedial measures.
