Congress delay riles Kutami partners

​Hyderabad: The delay on the part of the Congress in finalising the number of seats to be allotted to the alliance partners has displeased them and may force them to take a serious decision. The Telangana Jana Samithi particularly is quite angry with the Congress as the latter has delayed in announcing the seat-sharing formula.

The TJS leaders met twice in two days and discussed the issue. According to sources, the TJS leaders have been considering announcing candidates for 15 seats. The party leaders held an emergency meeting at the residence of party president M Kodandaram on Tuesday.

The Congress Core Committee, which met on Tuesday, did not take any decision on the issue. The Core Committee held discussions on the number of seats to be contested by it and the selection of candidates.
This meeting was also attended by AICC Telangana Screening Committee chairman Bhakthacharan Das. He was briefed about the details of each aspirant.

Bhakathacharan Das left for Delhi on Tuesday evening and he would submit his report to the AICC Central Election Committee (CEC). The CEC would meet on November 2 and would take a decision on the candidates, according to sources. However, the foot-dragging on the part the Congress is causing anger among the TDP, TJS and the CPI. These parties have demanded that the Congress announce the seat-sharing formula fist and then put focus on selection of its candidates.

The Congress is facing the ire of its candidates as they have been protesting allocation of few seats to the alliance partners. They have been strongly opposing the proposals to leave Serilingamapally and Malkajgiri to the alliance. Leaders of these constituencies have vented their strong resentment.

Party leaders said that this is also making the Congress to think twice on announcement of seats of the alliance partners. They said that there are about 15 to 20 seats where the Congress and TJS have locked horns.

In few seats the Congress, Telugu Desam and TJS have been claiming their upper hand and want those seats. Allocation of these seats would create rebel trouble and the Congress is treading cautiously on the issue. According to the Congress leaders, the announcement of candidate will begin from November 2. They said that the first list would contain names of the candidates whose candidatures are not in dispute.
