Quthubullapur: State secretary of CPI Tammineni Veerabhadram on Sunday alleged that irrigation projects taken up in the State were filling the pockets of ruling party leaders, officials and contractors. He claimed that of the Rs 1 lakh crore allocated to irrigation projects during the last four years Rs 50 crore were ‘pocketed’ by the TRS leaders.

Tammineni accused the KCR government of ‘cheating’ farmers, and blaming the Centre while denying the MSP to them. He said in Kerala a higher MSP of Rs 8.50 was being paid to ryots. The CPM leader asserted that 15-20 lakh acres of land was under the control of encroachers. He said if the Bahujan Left Front (BLF) came to power it would distributes the lands to the poor.

Tammineni questioned Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s concept of social justice while distributing sheep, buffaloes and fish to representatives of the respective communities. He contended that KCR opting for early elections was an indication of the pink party’s collapse. The CPM leader predicted that no party would get more than 60 seats in the ensuing elections and that none would be able to form government.

Among those present were BLF Quthbullapur convener Lakshman, D G Narsing Rao, Kalidindi Sambasiva Rao,district secretary Satyam, Medchal constituency in-charge M V Ramana, BLF State leader Ashayya, former Lok Satta leader Varma, AIDWA district president Vinoda.
