Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Telangana president L Ramana seems to be not keen on contesting the elections this time. In the wake of speculations that Ramana and Congress senior leader Jeevan Reddy locked horns over the allotment of Jagtial Assembly seat, from where the two leaders hail, Ramana made it clear that he was ready to sacrifice the seat to Congress if the winning prospects of the Mahakutami were bright.

In an informal interaction with media persons here, the TDP leader said that the allotment of seats to the Mahakutami partners was not important for TDP. Congress, TDP, CPI and TJS floated the grand alliance aiming to defeat the ruling TRS. After the announcement of creation of Mahakutami, the partners were drawing huge support from people.

Stating that he has been gaining considerable support from all sections in his native Jagtial, Ramana said the Congress leader was also a strong leader in the constituency. It was not appropriate for him to demand the seat from where the senior Congress leader was elected for two consecutive terms.

After he indicated that he will stay away from contesting the elections for the sake of Mahakutami, Ramana said Reddy was receiving overwhelming response as the TDP cadre was closely moving with the Congress at local level. The differences between Congress and TDP were buried and the winning prospects of his poll partner were bright, he said.

He further that the seat-sharing between the Congress and the TDP will take some more time as the two parties were analysing the winning chances of aspirants in every Assembly segment. The Mahakutami will not leave no stone unturned to make its candidates script victory. He said he was confident that the grand alliance would secure comfortable majority to form the government. The State TDP chief also predicted that the Mahakutami would win 70 to 80 seats of the 119 segments.
