Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan on Friday ordered the officials not to create hurdles and inconvenience to the farmer for purchasing of their cotton on the minimum support price through Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) purchasing centres and ginning mills.

The Collector chaired a special meeting with the Deputy Director of the CCI and owners of the ginning mills here at Pragna Conference Hall in Khammam and solved the issues between the owners of the ginning mills and CCI.

It is to be noted that as per the CCI tender, the owners of ginning mills must give 30.8 kg of cotton per one quintal to CCI. But the ginning mill owners did not accept this condition due to which the purchasing of cotton from the farmers remained a problem for few days.

The issue sorted out with the intervention of District Collector R V Karnan, who spoke to the Chief Managing Director of the CCI on phone and explained him about the problem.

Later, the District Collector ordered officials to extend tenders’ date to October 16 and start the purchasing process after Dasara festival in market yards and ginning mills from the cotton farmers on the minimum support price.

District Joint Collector Ayesha Masrath Khanam, CCI Director Choppa Lingam, CCI General Manager UK Singh, District Agriculture Officer Jhansi Laxmi Kumari, District Market Officer R Santosh Kumar, DOT Scientist Srinivas, Ginning mills owners Rahul Chowdhary, Anjaneyulu, R Somaiah, Srinivas Rao, Venkat Reddy, Ch Sathyam Babu, Kalyan Babu and Mahesh were present on the occasion.
