Shamirpet: A two-day conference on technology startups for engineering and management students, ‘Aliens Fest,’ concluded on Sunday at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Shamirpet. More than 5,000 students participated on the second day of the fest.

Many eminent speakers gave presentations at the fest and educated students on various topics. Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Raj, founder of EngineersHub, a platform that enables young engineers to get connected with experts, said that the company will expand nationally. “We will organize smaller versions of the fest in all major metro cities in India and converge into a mega festival in Hyderabad in 2019. In this due course we will reach one lakh engineering and management students and startups,” he said.

Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, addressing the gathering, said: “Future belongs to entrepreneurship and start-ups that are driving the economy in the USA and UK. India is also catching up with the trend.” Centre for Good Governance Director-General Rajendra Nimje said in his interaction with students that “the NGO will foray into all emerging technologies very soon”. Six parallel workshops were conducted on urban sewerage management, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, 5G network and super capacitors. Because of this overwhelming response, organizers had to conduct two workshops one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

The festival is organized by EngineersHub in collaboration with Technology Business Incubator (TBI), BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, Collab House and Code Beat. Students from Telugu states, Gujarat, Delhi, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra participated in the fest. The two-day event hosted about 50 speakers from diverse technologies, 10 technology experience zones, and 25 workshops. It also featured tech talks, management talks, panel discussions, hackathon, technology competitions, and launch pad for startups to launch their products, and so on.
