Halia (Nalgonda): A woman threw her three children into NSP left canal and latter jumped into it to commit suicide near Halia village on Friday. Police said that the woman was saved but her children drowned. The woman was identified as Angothu Swathi and she is battling with life at Yashodha Gospital in Halia.
Local MPTC Cherukupally Muthyalu, who saw the mother jumping into the canal with her children, jumped into the canal and brought the mother and her two daughters to the bank of canal but the children had died and mother was unconscious. She was admitted to the local hospital for treatment.
She is wife of Mohan, who is working as a constable in Peddavoora police station of Nagarjuna Sagar constituency. Her two daughters Satwika and Mituna Sri died, while her son Bhagavanth Kumar was washed away and is yet to be traced.
According to the sources, the couple Swathi and Mohan had got married twelve years ago. The reason behind the extreme step is said to be the family dispute.
On receiving the information of suicide, TRS Nagarjuna Sagar MLA candidate Nomula Narsimaiah along with another leader Yadavalli Vijayender Reddy rushed to the spot and consoled the bereaved family members. Halia police filed a case and took up the investigation.
