Earlier the I-T sleuths carried out IT raids on Revanth Reddy’s houses and offices, besides his relatives and close aides’ houses. The officials conducted searches for 48 hours. The I-T officials questioned him for more than 24 hours in his Jubilee Hills house and sought clarity on the documents seized.
They had also enquired him about assets disproportionate to his income and tax evasion. As some allegations against Revanth Reddy are that he was involved in money laundering through different shell companies and made financial transactions through his accounts.
The I-T sleuths had also found that there was a difference in the earning accounts of him and his wife’s income in a year and the payments made by the two to different banks through housing EMIs, the officials said. They had shown their yearly income as Rs 13 lakh and they were paying the housing loan EMI of Rs 19.20 lakh per annum and the details were not disclosed in the filing of I-T returns.
The I-T officials took Revanth Reddy’s wife to three banks and opened the lockers and seized gold and diamond ornaments and several key documents from the lockers. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team seized the computer and hard discs from his house and tried to retrieve the data from it.
The I-T sleuths also quizzed Revanth Reddy on the source of Rs 50 lakh with which he was caught red-handed while allegedly paying a bribe to nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote for his party nominee in Legislative Council polls in May, 2015 in cash-for-vote scam.
Later the I-T officials issued notices to Revanth Reddy to attend for further enquiry on October 3.
