​Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar on Tuesday directed the District Election Officer (DEO) to educate the voters about the use of Electronic Voting Machines and VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial) since the system would be used for the first time in elections in the State.
The demonstration of EVMs and VVPATs was organised at the Victory Playground Chaderghat, where the representatives of various political parties and others were also participated. The CEO said that to create awareness among the citizens, there would be 19 mobile vehicles in which some of the vehicles have been provided for physically challenged and disabled persons. Specially trained professionals have been deployed in the mobile vehicles who would explain about the entire process of voting, etc. to people.
The demonstration and awareness programme were successfully conducted with mock polling, voting process and other process of EVM’s, VVPATs have been conducted by DEO and GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore along with senior officials of GHMC. M Dana Kishore said that the GHMC was organising one static unit with secure shelter booth in each ward so that the citizens of their jurisdiction can visit the static unit to know the complete process, this has been organised for the convenience of the citizens as they can visit the center as per their convenience.
Dana Kishore said that GHMC was making all elaborate arrangements for the disabled persons to cast their vote without any inconvenience and planning to increase the voting percentage for ensuing elections for which awareness campaigns were being taken up on priority to create awareness about modernised EVMs, VVPATs at community halls, parks and important public places to educate them.
