Vikarabad: Konda Laxman Bapuji’s 103rd birth anniversary celebrations were organised by District Backward Classes Development Department at Ambedkar Bhavan here on Thursday. Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation chairman Pariyada Krishna Murthy said that Konda Laxman Bapuji dedicated his life to the uplift of weaker sections. He said that state government implementing BC welfare schemes with an amount of Rs 40,000 crore. He appealed to the people to utilise those schemes for their development.
Collector Syed Omar Jaleel said that the government is following Bapuji’s path and striving hard for the development of BCs. Accordingly, under self employment scheme 673 skill development centres were established in the district, where BC candidates will be trained in various fields and get employment opportunities, the collector explained. He said that to ensure good education, the government sanctioned 119 BC residential schools. The collector said that financial assistance of Rs 3.37 crore was handed over to 673 beneficiaries in the district.
National Backward Classes Welfare Association president, former legislator R Krishnaiah said that the government is committed for the uplift of BCs by establishing residential schools and hostels. He advised the students to follow the path laid by Konda Laxman Bapuji in their career prospects. Later, petty traders received financial assistance of Rs 50,000 from the department. DBCDO Pushpalatha, DTDP Kotaji, DYWO Hanumantha Rao, SC Corporation ED Babu Moses, Tahsildar Chinnappala Naidu, MPDO Sattaiah, MPP Rajyalakshmi, ZPTC member Muqtar Shareef, Shubhprada Patel, Vijaya kumar, Srinivas, Kishtaiah were present.
