Khammam: The State secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) Thammineni Veerabhadram here on Wednesday demanded the government to declare health emergency and provide better medical service to people in government hospitals.
Addressing the party leaders’ meeting at Sundaraiah Bhavan, Veerabhadram said thousands of people are suffering from viral fever and seasonal diseases and spending lakhs of rupees going round the private hospitals.
People in villages are the worst sufferers. They are reeling from dengue, chickangunya and malaria fevers. Many have lost their lives for not getting timely treatment.
On the other hand, instead of providing medical services to the people, the TRS party leaders are busy in organising election campaigns in their respective constituencies and have kept busy the health workers in conducting Kanti Velugu programmes. Therefore there is a shortage of health workers in government hospitals across the district.
Therefore, to save lives of people, the government must declare a health emergency in the district and provide better medical services in the government hospitals, he demanded.
CPM party State leader Pothineni Sudharshan Rao, district secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Venkateshwar Rao, Kalyanam Venkateshwar Rao, Battula Lenin, Bandi Ramesh, Bhukya Veerabhadram and Macharla Bharati were present on the occasion.
