Nanal Nagar: Open plot near Nanal Nagar crossroads turned into a swamp full of mosquitoes. Every monsoon the low land plot is filled with stagnant water and is garbage is found floating, forming an ideal place for mosquitoes to breed.

Hundreds of passengers who stop by adjoining bus stops are annoyed by mosquito menace and the nauseating vapour around the area. “There are too many mosquitoes these days, and swamp is right adjacent to two bus stops it is an annoyance for people to stand there for longer time especially in the evening when the mosquitoes are rampant,” said Raghu a toilet keeper from Nanal Nagar crossroads.

Two bus bays are without any shelters and each of it is crowded with passengers travelling from Langar House, Kalimandir and Chilkoor to IT corridor and commercial parts of the city. Bus stop servers as a sole interchanging point to these commuters, “One can barely stand here with the smell,” said S Mohan Raju, a bus commuter who travels for work from Langer House to Gachibowli.

“The plot is under court litigation which has made it stranded, and untouched, residents of Nanal Nagar have made several complaints and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) staff never bothers to clean this place up,” said Mohammed, a Resident of Kakatiya Nagar Colony. “Mosquitoes are affecting several areas here, residents of Kakatiya Nagar Colony, Salar Jung Colony and commercial store owners at Nanal Nager crossroads. And GHMC is not taking any step towards cleaning it,” said Humayun from Kakatiya Nagar Colony.
