Hyderabad: The Congress party on Thursday welcomed the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly as it led to people being rid of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). It described September 6 as one more “liberation day,” Addressing the media, leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammad Shabbir Ali, MLAs A Revanth Reddy and D K Aruna said Telangana celebrated liberation on September 17. Now September 6 too would be celebrated as second liberation day, they said.
The leaders demanded that the Chief Minister express apology for calling AICC president Rahul Gandhi as “a big buffoon.” They retaliated by saying that the Chief Minister was “a big broker.” They said the people would teach a lesson.
Shabbir Ali said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had failed to explain to the people why he opted to advance the elections to the State Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister’s statement at the media conference reminded one of the saying that “ Ulta Chor Kotwal ku Dante” (The thief blaming the cop).
Instead of explaining the reasons for the dissolution of Assembly, the Chief Minister chose to blame the Congress for his action. He sounded arrogant. He humiliated journalists too at the media conference, he claimed. Displaying a photograph in which the Chief Minister’s family was seen with former AICC President Sonia Gandhi soon after the passage of AP Reorganisation Act in 2014, the MLC said KCR had touched the feet of her. He recalled that in the Assembly the Chief Minister said “Jis ka Khaye Uska Gaye.”
Now the Chief Minister had chosen to criticise Rahul Gandhi in an unparliamentary language. He forgot all the statements he had made in the past in praise of Sonia Gandhi. He was confident that the people would chase them away when they approached the electorate. “KCR and his family members will be sent to jail,” Shabbir said.
Aruna said the Chief Minister was too shocked to explain the reason at the Pragati Nivedana Sabha for advancing the poll because the turnout was low. She questioned the Chief Minister why he had agreed to remain as caretaker Chief Minister when he said the TRS was not after posts. Revanth Reddy alleged that KCR’s son and nephew were ready to do away with him as they were obsessed with power. It prompted the Chief Minister to dissolve the Assembly. He challenged the Chief Minister to show at least one MLA who had no criminal record against him.
