Hyderabad: The Telangana State police with its preliminary and concrete plan has succeeded in maintaining law and order without any untoward incident in the Pragati Nivedana Sabha held on Sunday.
As the ruling TRS party held the Sabha on Sunday, the State police took it as a challenge and executed its plan successfully.
By which, the first ever huge political programme with lakhs of people ended peacefully without causing any law and order and traffic problems to the general public and the TRS party workers.
As the TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced about the mammoth meeting, the police teams made plans for the Sabha to go peacefully.
Since Sunday morning, DGP M Mahendar Reddy supervised the arrangements from the Command Control Room from his office.
DGP with his team of officers supervised and gave orders to the Commissioners and the officers for the free movement of the traffic, no accidents and the maintenance of law and order.
The Command Control Room were linked to 112 CCTV cameras which were installed on the ORR and the routes heading towards the meeting venue and the 16 cameras which were kept around the meeting in Kongara Kalan.
In the afternoon when there was heavy traffic jam at Palmakula crossroad, from where the diversion to the Kongara Kalan was given, the DGP intervened and gave orders to the Cyberabad police to allow the vehicles straight on ORR road.
Police deployed 20,000 personnel for the Sabha. Greyhounds, OCTOPUS and special party police were deployed for the security and to meet any untoward incident.
Intelligence staff were grounded in hundreds in and around the main venue. Separate mufti police were deployed to curb the pick-pocketers.
With the division of duties and sector-wise monitoring by the concerned officers in the maintenance of law and order and traffic control, the officials were able to discharge their duties successfully.
Entire law and order was looked after by Additional DG Jitender, and the main security duties were done by Cyberabad CP V C Sajjanar.
Cyberabad DCP (Crime) Janaki Sharmila overviewed the infrastructure facilities provided to the public at the Sabha. From Saturday onwards 100 members of her team worked on it.
Traffic and vehicle parking were monitored by Hyderabad Additional Commissioner, Traffic Anil Kumar, Rachakonda CP Mahesh M Bhagwat and Nalgonda SP A V Ranganath.
They have arranged patrolling parties on the ORR and overviewed the safe movement and line clearance of traffic.
They have arranged 50 cranes on ORR at different points to take care of the stopped vehicles. Special officers were arranged at the parking places to park the vehicles in an orderly manner.
By issuing the traffic advisory to the general public before the meeting in advance police succeeded in their plan to avoid the general public travelling on Sunday. Slow moving vehicles, tractors were parked outside the ORR.
For the free and safe traffic movement of vehicles for each two kilometres, a traffic holding point was arranged.
After the meeting when the public rushed to their respective vehicles, to avoid stampede, they have taken special measures.
One after the other, the officers allowed the group of people and their vehicles from the service roads, approaching roads to the ORR.
By keeping city outskirt areas - Kukatpally, Miyapur, Hafeezpet, Gachibowli, Uppal, Nagole, LB Nagar, Sagar Road, Chandrayangutta, Aaramghar and Rajendranagar and public movement and private travels buses on those areas from 8 pm to till Monday’s morning they have issued guidelines and advisory to them due to which the Pragathi Nivedana Sabha was peacefully ended without any untoward incidents.
