​Nagarjuna Sagar: Heavy flood inflows from Srisailam dam to Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir has been increasing gradually. On Saturday, Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) Superintending Engineer Madhusudhan informed that all arrangements were made to release 20,000 cusecs of water to downstream by lifting five gates of the project at 8 am on Sunday.

He ordered officials to alert the people of downstream and low-lying areas about the water release. According to official information, Sagar reservoir has been getting inflows of 1,55,071 cusecs, whereas out flow is 44,097 cusecs.

At present water level of Sagar reservoir is 291.26 tmcs at 583.90 feet where as the total capacity of reservoir is 312.04 TMC at 590 feet. The officials expected the water level will reach 586.5 feet by Sunday morning. Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir has 26 crust gates. Earlier water was released from the project in 2014.
