Afzalgunj: It is more than three months now since the commuters, transport vehicles, customers and businessmen of Kishangunj were bearing hardships, as no effective action was taken up by the authorities to resolve various civic issues in the busy market area. The managements of Padmavati Trading Company, Nagarmal Agency, Manorath Corporation, Annapurna Sales Agency, Sri Mahima Enterprises, Pramod Oil Industries, RK Enterprises, Jai Aruhe Navdurga Marketing and Jaya Industries located in the area have submitted their complaint on June 13 to the GHMC.
TRS president, Begum Bazar division, Raju Singh also brought the issue to the notice of GHMC in June. In the representation, he requested the GHMC Commissioner to resolve problems like improper maintenance of road near Arya Samaj, Kishan Gunj, Ward No 15, Begum Bazar division. He pointed out that it has been around six months that the road cutting work as well as sewerage line work has been completed, but following completion of these works the road has been restored and remains under bad condition, with several potholes, pits and ditches.
“These unmanaged structures are causing lot of trouble for transport and movement of general public and goods as well. Goods carrying vehicles are losing their balance and control. Apart from this, these potholes have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, raising the concern regarding spread of malarial infections,” he noted.
Being unable to withstand the unending negligence of the authorities, these shopkeepers also highlighted the matter with the authorities. The problems like overflowing drainage, dusty and damaged roads, galore the area. The traders also facing difficulty to run business with drainage water entering into their shops during monsoon. They alleged that despite several representations, the authorities had turned a blind eye and never made an attempt to redress these problems.
Suresh Kumar Agawal, President of Telangana Oil and Trade Association said, that they were tired of giving complaints to GHMC of the poor maintenance of roads in our locality Kishangunj Oil Market. “The roads in our locality have not been repaired for a long time. There are pits and ditches on the roads everywhere. The condition of the road becomes all the worst during the rainy season. They cause road accident. At night people sometimes stumble down. Moreover, these pits provide breeding ground for the mosquitoes. Thus there is an outbreak of mosquitoes in the locality leading to the spread of malaria,” he said.
Several months have been passed by since the businessmen submitted the representation, but no action has been initiated towards restoration of roads. “GHMC has to take necessary action immediately to mend the ways so that people of the area have good roads”, Suresh Kumar added.
