Gadwal: The Health officials in Gadwal district have set everything ready to launch the most prestigious health scheme of Telangana government Kanti Velugu on Wednesday on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day.
Kanti Velugu is a unique and first of its kind health scheme launched by Telangana government to provide free screening tests of eyes and diagnosing any disease related to eyes. Apart from screening, the government is also providing free treatment to those found with eye-related ailments in the district.
“We have already appointed 15 medical officers to and formed 15 teams for each mandal. On the first day, these teams lead by a medical officer will select one village and will set up their camp. During the camp, the healthcare officials will screen about 250-300 people in each village.
Those found suffering from eye-related diseases will be taken up for follow up treatment. All this is provided free of cost by the government. So, people are advised to take advantage and avail the benefits offered by the government,” Ronald Rose, in charge District Collector of Jogulamba Gadwal said.
On the first day, the officials have made elaborate arrangements for the launch of Kanti Velugu, wherein in all the 15 mandals of Gadwal, the officials have chosen one village to take up the screening of the eye. The overnment primary schools have been selected as the venue for the screening in all the villages.
