Khammam: The BC Sankshema Sangham, district president Pindiprolu Ram Murthy here on Friday demanded the government to release the pending scholarships and fee reimbursement of students belonging to Backward Castes (BC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and minority.
The representatives of the association along with students staged dharna in front of the Collectorate at Dharna Chowk in Khammam and later submitted the memorandum to the District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar.
Addressing the protesters, Sangham’s district president P Ram Murthy said that the students belonging to BC, SC, ST and minorities are facing lot of hardships because of non-release of scholarships and fee reimbursement of last year.
The government is behaving negligently towards students issues and is not in a mood to release pending scholarships and fee reimbursement of Rs.2,200 crore of previous year.
He demanded the government to pay the complete fees of students belonging to BC, SC, ST and minorities studying professional courses such as Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy and PG along with sanctioning of scholarship of Rs.500 to 2,000 to the students studying in Intermediate and Degree Colleges.
BC Vidhyarthi Sangham national representative Dr. Hari Kishore, K Raghu Babu, Medipalli Krishnama Chary, K Venkateshwar Rao, S Venu, M Srinivas, P Venkat, Soumith, M Naveen, D Upendar, B Venkatachary and B Bhadramma and others were present.
