Warangal: The onus is on Special Officers to look after the welfare of the villages, Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Vikas Raj said. Speaking at the one-day training session organised for the special officers of the gram panchayats here on Wednesday, he told them to focus on development, based on priorities laid down by the government.
Sanitation, drinking water, streetlights, construction of individual sanitary latrines (ISLs) and soak pits are some of the important issues that have to be focused, he said.
Panchayat Raj Commissioner Neetu Prasad said that there is imperative need to acquaint with the latest panchayat raj acts. “This is a golden opportunity for the special officers to make their mark by providing able administration in villages,” she said.
Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata directed the special officers to focus on the needs of the people living in rural areas. Rural District Collector M Haritha advised the officials to tour their designated villages and interact with the people so that they create a kind of rapport with
which they can understand their problems. Special Commissioner Asha and ZP CEO Vijayagopal were among others present.
