Hyderabad: Former MP V Hanumantha Rao on Thursday demanded the government to lift restrictions imposed on Dharna Chowk in view of Supreme Court directions on Jantar Mantar of Delhi.

Addressing the media, he said that the Supreme Court has directed the Centre to allow for the programmes at the Jantar Manta and the Chief Minister should take note of this and lift restrictions on Dharna Chowk.

He reminded that the Chief Minister in the past had stated that he would launch an agitation at the Jantar Mantar if the Centre did not address the issues of the State. In view of this, he should lift the restrictions on Dharna Chowk.

The Congress leader further added that he would organise an all-party meeting next month over the issue. “So far, the government did not give any written orders on restrictions on Dharna Chowk and has been seizing the tents and other material being used by the protesters,” he said.

Stating that the creamy layer restriction on the reservations to OBCs should be removed, the Congress leader informed that had written to Congress president Rahul Gandhi who had praised the opinion.
