Hyderabad: The indefinite strike by Lorry Owners’ Association entered third day on Sunday as the association members tried to stop the vehicles at different places in the State.

According to the Association members about 80 per cent of the vehicles are off the roads because of strike. Though the strike entered third day, the impact has been minimal because the vehicles of petroleum products and essential commodities were exempted from the strike.

The Association leader Durga Prasad said that the impact may not be visible as the essential commodities have been exempted. He said that they would have a meeting in a couple of days and decide on the future course of action.

The lorry owners are demanding the Centre to bring petroleum products like diesel under GST. They also wanted the Centre to review the petroleum rates once in three months.

The truckers want the Centre to decrease the insurance fee, which has been increased three fold. Lorry owners demanded the state government to have single permit system in both the Telugu states.
