Khammam: The hospitals in the united Khammam district are witnessing steady flow of patients suffering from seasonal diseases. The spurt in seasonal diseases are attributed to the heavy rains that have lashed the district for the past two weeks. Water contamination is also said to be responsible for viral fevers.
The officials have identified Kamepalli, Raghunathapalem, Bonakal, Managuru, Chintakani, Thallada, Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam, Karepalli, Dummugudem, Pinapaka, Yellandu and Burgampadu mandals under the united Khammam district as disease-prone areas.
A total of 1,350 persons have so far been affilicted with dengue and other contagious diseases in Ravinuthala, Govindapuram, Allapadu and Chirunomula villages under Bonakal mandal last year.
Keeping in view of the last year experiences, the officials are taking necessary steps beforehand for preventing the spread of malaria, dengue, chikunngunya, typhoid, jaundice, diarrhoea and other contagious diseases.
District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the officials concerned to take all measures to prevent spread of diseases. He asked the officials to carry our repairs to the damaged pipelines. He instructed the officials of Health Department, Education Department, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department and Urban Development Bodies to ensure proper sanitation.
The District Panchyat Officer Srinivas Reddy said under 14th Finance Commission Rs.25.43 crores are sanctioned for preventing the spread of seasonal and contagious diseases.
The District Medical and Health Officer Kondal Rao said the officials were directed to reach out to remote areas with mobile teams, including Kala Jathas, to educate the people and also take preventive measures, apart from providing medical aid to the patients. Special teams have also been formed with the officials and the staff to provide treatment to the patients.
