Hyderabad: Just like Gujarat and Maharashtra, the youngest state of Telangana will be a destination for huge investments from India's one of the largest companies -Adani group. The group has come forward to invest in the state on a large scale. The company has already proposed to set up a dry port on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway linking the coastal states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to boost business in South India.
Apart from the dry port, the company is also keen to take up big infrastructure development programmes. Top officials said the Adani group is pursuing with the TS government to establish a big dry port near Chityal in old Nalgonda district on the national high way-65 connecting Hyderabad with Vijayawada.
The state has been scouting for suitable location for the establishment of the dry port required to export from Hyderabad to the ports in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh.
After the state bifurcation, Telangana has urged the Centre to set up a dry port but nothing much has happened on this front till date. Now, with the Adani group is coming forward, the state is contemplating to take the lead in setting up the port in public-private partnership mode.
The proposal is in initial stages and the government will take a decision on it only after holding a meeting with the officials concerned. A clarity on the proposal will come out in a month or two. The government wants to set up the dry port in public and private partnership since it requires huge logistic support and crores of rupees in investment.
Once Adani enters, the flow of investments from the multi-million company will go up mainly in the areas of energy, real estate, financial services and Defence and aerospace also in Telangana. As part of the promotion of investments under the TS-iPASS, the officials said the government is also holding talks with various companies inviting them to invest in other sectors too.
Noted company – Prafful Textile Industries has come forward to set up the manufacturing unit of aluminum foils with an investment of Rs 200 crore. Perhaps, it will be the first foil manufacturing company in South India. The company is keen to set up the industry at Jadcherla, where 20 acres of land was already identified. The company will provide employment to at least 250 people by offering them skill development training. The project will be finalised in August first week.
