Hyderabad: The Lorry Owners Association has called for an indefinite strike with various demands from 6 am on July 20. The association has been demanding the Centre to bring petroleum products under the GST with tax slab of 18 per cent. The lorry owners have been demanding the Centre among others to review petroleum rates once in three months, cut in insurance premium, etc.

Association honorary president and TRS MLA V Srinivas Goud said the Centre which gives assurances when truckers go on strike ignores them later completely. He alleged that the toll plazas have been increased indiscriminately making it very difficult for the truckers.

There is a toll gate for every 60 to 70 km, resulting in heavy burden on lorry owners. Association president N Bhaskar Reddy demanded the state government to introduce single permit system in both the Telugu states. He also demanded the government to fulfil the written assurances given to the lorry owners earlier.
