Hyderabad: After film critic Kathi Mahesh, the city police now externed Sri Peetham seer Swamy Paripoornananda from the city for six months. The police officials externed the Swamy under Section 3 of the Telangana Prevention of Anti-Social and Hazardous Activities Act 1980 and shifted him to Sri Peetham in Kakinada from his city residence at around 4 am on Wednesday.
Swamy Paripoornananda can come to the city after six months with prior police permission. The police have listed out reasons for the externment of Swamy Paripoornananda. The police found a few comments of the Sri Peetham seer as objectionable.
They said that on November 1, 2017 in Narayanakhed, Paripoornananda had questioned the government on the subsidy being given to the Muslims and Christians for going to Haj and Jerusalem. Swamy had called the Hindus to demand similar subsidy for going on pilgrimage and also said that the Hindus were made to pay more in the name of surcharges.
The police have objected to the comments of Swamy asking the people whether they want Nizam’s rule or that of Shivaji. He had also alleged that Razakars under the Nizams had attacked Hindu women and committed atrocities. The police said Paripoornananda had demanded change of the names of the districts like Nizamabad as Induru, Mahbubnagar as Palamur and also the cities like Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The police authorities said the Jubilee Hills police had given a notice to Paripoornananda on July 9 and asked him to respond. The police officials said that as there was no response from the seer, he was taken into custody and was externed.
The police officials said Swamy Paripoornananda can approach the Tribunal challenging their decision of externment within 15 days. Paripoornananda Swamy’s legal advisor Padma Rao said that it was totally false to say that the police had given legal notice. He said that without giving any notice, the police officials house-arrested Swamy for two days and later externed him.
He said, “Hurt with the derogatory comments against Lord Sri Ram, Swamy Paripoornananda wanted to take up pada yatra with ‘Sri Rama japam’ to Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri from Boduppal. The police first gave permission and later cancelled it in the name of law and order issues,” said Padma Rao.
Reacting on the issue, Paripoornananda said the police authorities had passed externment order for demanding justice. He called up on his followers not to lose patience and wanted them to continue ‘Rama japam’ peacefully. He said in the coming days people would teach a lesson to those playing with the sentiments of the Hindus.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has condemned the government’s decision to extern Paripoornananda. VHP president M Ramaraju said it was a black day in Telangana. The government has placed both anti-social elements and social reformers in one category. The police have taken action against the complainant.
