The civic body would set up a massive LED screen at its headquarters and 33 minor screens in zonal and circle offices in order monitor not only emergency situations but also day-to-day progress of works and alsoit field level staff.

The civic body would set up a massive LED screen at its headquarters and 33 minor screens in zonal and circle offices in order monitor not only emergency situations but also day-to-day progress of works and alsoit field level staff.

According to a GHMC official, the GHMC will access CCTV footages with the cooperation of the Police Department. The GHMC authorities will also set up 33 minor screens along with cams in order monitor the progress of worksat the time of crisis. It has decided develop a special mechanism and software and install it in all mobile phones being carried by the GHMC staff in order monitor the progress of ongoing works.

When contacted, a senior GHMC official told The Hans India that a massive screen of 10 metres height and 28 metres width will be installed on the seventh floor of the GHMCheadquarters. A special mechanism at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore will be developed in order conduct video conferences; monitor the work progress on daily basis and during the emergency. The official said as many as 30 screens incorporated witha camera will be installed in all circle and zonal offices and three screens will be installed in the offices of the Commissioner, Mayor and Additional Commissioner.

The GHMC official further said that tenders for the project will be called by next week. The agency which willtake up the project will maintain it for five years and the back-end support will be provided by the GHMC. The official said the project will not only save the fuel but also time to respond during emergencies. Official said higher authorities can also talk to field staff through video conference by installing special software in latter’s mobile phones.
