Hyderabad: The progress of works relating to the construction of Cable Bridge Project at Durgam Cheruvu indicate that it would be delayed by another six months. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) entered into an agreement with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in January for the construction of the bridge. According to the agreement, the company has to submit the design for the bridge. But it has not yet submitted the design.
The proposed cable bridge across Durgam Cheruvu connects Jubilee Hills Road No 36 and Road No 45. The cost was estimated at Rs 184 cr.
According to GHMC official, as per the agreement the private firm has to submit the project designs within four months. About seven months have already been passed; but the private firm is yet to complete the design of the project. The project will be executed only after finalising the designs.
A senior GHMC official told The Hans India that the private firm is still seeking time to submit design. He said as per the agreement the private firm has to complete the project by June 2018.
However, he said, the agency is yet to submit the designs even after seven months. He said if the progress of the work runs on the same pace, the project will be delayed by at least six months. He also hinted that fund crunch is also cited as one of the reason for the delay.
