Accuses the BJP and the TRS of neglecting farm sector

Suryapet: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy described the visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to Telangana as a total flop show.Addressing party workers here on Wednesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said Amit Shah had failed to draw any response from the common people and remained confined to a few programmes orchestrated by local BJP leaders.

Ridiculing Amit Shah’s statements made during the visit, Uttam said the BJP leader owed an explanation to the people of Telangana as to why the BJP government at the Centre totally neglected the State.“Not a single promise made in the Telangana Bill has been fulfilled by the NDA government.

Railway Coach Factory in Kazipet, Steel Factory in Bayyaram of Khammam, Tribal University, Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) and other major schemes remained unfulfilled. The Centre could not even bifurcate the High Court during the last three years,” he said.

He also said the BJP government did not accord national project status to any irrigation project in Telangana. He also said all other promises made by the BJP during elections like depositing Rs 15 lakh in every bank account remained unfilled. “The Centre, along with the TRS government, totally neglected the agriculture sector and remained a mute spectator to thousands of farmers’ suicides in the State and no assistance was extended to the crisis-hit agriculture sector in Telangana State,” he added.

“Amit Shah is hoping to replicate Uttar Pradesh model in Telangana. But people here would repeat Punjab, Bihar or Delhi model of rejecting the BJP in the State. The Congress is all set to return to power in next elections and Amit Shah or any other leader will not be able to reverse the trend even if they stay permanently in Telangana,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said. The TPCC chief also questioned the silence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao over Amit Shah’s claims that Centre gave Rs 1 lakh crore funds to Telangana State.

“While Chandrashekar Rao keeps praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah has openly targeted the TRS government for its failures. Chandrashekar Rao should give an explanation over his secret pact with the BJP,” he said, adding that both the BJP and the TRS were secret partners and were trying to mislead the people through blame-game politics.

The TPCC chief asked the Congress leaders to ensure participation of at least 10 workers from each Gram Panchayat in the State in the ‘Telangana Praja Garjana’ meeting to be addressed by AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi at Sangareddy on June 1. He said Rahul Gandhi would release a charge-sheet on the failures of TRS and BJP governments during the last three years. He would also unveil Congress’ plans to take agriculture and other sectors out of crisis.

All Congress workers should feel the responsibility and act accordingly to make Rahul Gandhi's meeting a grand success,” he said.AICC secretary R C Khuntia, former minister R Damodar Reddy, DCC president B Bhikshamaiah Goud and others also spoke.
