​Hyderabad: The 1st Indian Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup 2019 will be held in the city at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on February 16 and 17.
To share more details on the same a Press Conference was called on Friday addressed by GR Reddy, MD, (Husys Consulting Limited and Chief Patron of Gundlapally Krida Foundation), Lala Yusifova, coach from Azerbaizan, BS Rao, Vice President of CtrlS, Baba Kishore Mutta, Director of Prowess Software.
“It is the first time that we have organised such a event on an international level. Our sole idea is to conduct a competition which will be recognized internationally and specifically by the Federation of International Gymnastics (FGI).
As junior sport is picking up in India, the international performance in this sport has been commendable and has improved significantly as a power house for thousands of girls to train and represent India. We may not be surprised if we gain an entry into Olympics 2028.” said G R Reddy addressing the press conference.
The event is presented by CtrlS which is a Tier-4 Datacenter in India which is headquartered in Hyderabad. CtrlS deals with large group of networked computer servers typically used by various organisations for the remote storage, processing, or distribution of large amounts of data.
Participants from Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Canada, Malaysia and India will be in the maiden CtlrS Indian Rhythmic Gymnastic cup which will feature 65 participants from seven nations.
The competition will be held in four different age groups which are sub Juniors which will have participants in under-10 and 12 years, juniors which will have participants from 12 to 15 years and seniors will have participants of 15 years and above.
Where most of the sub junior participants are Indians, 20-year-old Rythmic Gymnast Meghana Gandulpally, who is the only rhythmic gymnast from India, will be competing in the event with equally strong and senior international players hailing from five different countries.
Indian teams for all categories are coming from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Amravati (Maharashtra), Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Karnataka and Chennai.
“The sport is known for flexibility, agility and intelligence just like CtrlS where we share the same values in our work. We are happy to present 1st Indian Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup 2019 which has brought two continents Europe and Asia together on one platform to promote Rhythmic Gymnastics and make it an all women sport in India, the aim of this event is to bring all the aspiring athletes, young girls, students, Rhythmic Gymnastics sport lovers, enthusiasts and provide them opportunity and a platform where they can compete with the peers from around the globe so that it will boost up their morale and brighten up their international career aspirations.” said B S Rao of CltrS.
Baba Kishore Mutta of Prowess Software Services said: “The sport is very young and throws open opportunities to young girls in India and we would feel proud to see them compete with international athletes. That is why Prowess Software Services got associated with the event.”
Lala Yusifova, who is a coach from Azerbaizan said; “This sport is good for a healthy life, it helps you to build strong body from a very young age and being an Olympic sport too this event will give the girls an experience of seeing and competing with international players without much cost and going out of country. This may change the way they plan their vision for the future.”
The medals will be awarded as follows
Sub-Juniors (Under 10): Have to perform one Free Hand and another on any two apparatus by Choice from (Ball, Rope, Hoop, Clubs, Ribbon). Each apparatus will receive three prizes (gold, silver and bronze) Pastorelli Apparatus prizes of international brand will also be given.
Sub-Juniors (Under 12): Will have to perform any three apparatus by choice from ball, rope, hoop, clubs, and ribbon). Each apparatus has three prizes – gold, silver and bronze. Pastorelli Apparatus prizes will be given (international brand) Juniors (12-15 yrs): The participants will have to perform ball, rope and clubs and each apparatus have gold, silver and bronze medals. Gold winner will receive 200 Euro, silver will get 150 Euro and bronze will get 100Euro.
Seniors (15+ yrs): Have to perform ball, hoop, clubs and ribbon. Each Apparatus have gold, silver and bronze medals carry a prize money of 200Euro, 150 Euro and 100Euro respectively
“The major Rhythmic Gymnastics event is organised in Hyderabad and in this backdrop the cup will go a long way to earn good recognition for this sport and we want India to be one of the top contenders in international events.” added GR Reddy.
