Khammam: The State wide bandh passed off peacefully in Khammam district on Tuesday. TDP, CPI, CPM, CPI-ML (New Democracy), YSRCP, and TRS leaders participated in the bandh. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers at various road junctions, commercial centres, Government offices and other important places.
RTC buses were not allowed to leave the bus depots from morning hours. Shops, business establishments and educational institutions were closed. The District Granite Welfare Association extended its support to the bandh and granite industrial units were kept closed for the day.
Leaders of Left parties staged dharna near the RTC Bus Depot demanding immediate roll back of power tariff hike. Mr. Potu Ranga Rao, New Democracy district secretary, Mr. Potineni Sudarshan, CPM district secretary, Mr. Kondabala Koteswara Rao, TDP district president, and other leaders addressed the gatherings.
Leaders of Left parties staged dharna near Bus Depot at Bhadrachalam and buses were not allowed from the depot to ply. Devotees who came to the temple town faced inconveniences due to non-availability of buses to various destinations.
Adilabad: The bandh observed in response to the call given by Left parties against power tariff hike and power cuts passed off peacefully in Adilabad district on Tuesday. Activists of Left parties, TDP, BJP and TRS took out a rally in the town. Shops and business establishments downed their shutters to extend support to bandh. Petrol bunks, schools and colleges and cinema theatres were also kept closed.
Bandh was observed in Mancherial, Utnoor, Bhainsa, Asifabad and Nirmal towns, besides Adilabad. TRS leader Baluri Govardhan Reddy and others flayed the policies of Congress Government for hiking the fuel prices, power tariff and essential commodities.
Nizamabad: Besides the Left parties, TDP, TRS and YSRCP extended their support to the bandh in Nizamabad district. RTC buses were not allowed to ply from 6.00 am in the town.A Bandh was observed in Kamareddy, Yellareddy, Dichpally, Balkonda, Armoor, Jukkal and Bodhan towns.Police made elaborate security arrangements to prevent violent incidents.
Dharnas and rastarokos were organised at various places in the district. BJP MLA from Nizamabad Urban segment Yendala Lakshminarayana, CPM district secretary Peddi Venkatramulu, CPI-ML leader Akula Papaiah, YSRCP Nizamabad rural constituency in-charge Anthireddy Sridhar Reddy, TDP district president V Gangadhar Goud, BJP district president P Ganga Reddy, CPI district secretary Yadagiri, CPM leader Sabbani Latha and others addressed gathering at the district headquarters.
Karimnagar: The bandh was partial in Karimnagar district. RTC buses were not allowed to ply till the afternoon. Political parties except Congress extended their support to the bandh.A CPI leader Chada Venkat Reddy, CPM leader H Veeraiah and others were arrested by police when they were agitating against power tariff hike in Karimnagar along with other party activists. YSRCP activists took out a bike rally at Jammikunta condemning the power tariff hike. YSRCP district in-charge Padi Koushik Reddy and others flayed the State Government for its anti-people policies.
