I am happy to know that the Union HRD Ministry has issued directives to the States and Union Territories across the country about the weight of school bags and homeworks entrusting to the I and II standard students by the schools
I am happy to know that the Union HRD Ministry has issued directives to the States and Union Territories across the country about the weight of school bags and homeworks entrusting to the I and II standard students by the schools.
You are kindly aware, the first news was covered by "The Hans India" in October 2013 and I feel proud, with the motivation by "The Hans India" only I could make initiatives to make presentations in writing to the District Officials about the problem.
Of course, all was in vain and I did not receive a single line of reply from the authorities concerned. However, it’s a happy moment, at last we could get relief in this regard and in this connection I would like to express my opinion about the implementation of the directions by schools since its very shameful to the media that I have read two leading Telugu Dailies today, but could not find even a single line about this news.
The papers were full with present political scenario but not such important news like this.
1. Every school has to get official letters from the Authorities Concerned i.e., from The District Collectors thru District Educational Officers.
2. Ensure that one personnel should be entrusted in every school to monitor whether all the teaching staff are aware of this and follow the instructions.
3. Schools should convene a "parent meet" immediately and bring it to the notice as I said in my previous lines that no leading paper has published the news.
4. The school Management should take feedback from the parents that whether the guidelines are implemented properly or not.
5. For every year, while applying affiliations, the Schools should produce an undertaking that "the directives from HRD are being implemented and no complaint has been received from the parents".
6. Every school must have their own grievance cell duly incorporating this problem and make sure that online grievance is available for posting/complaining such problems to the school and HRD ministry or at least concerned district authorities.
Such facility is available at the professional colleges and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and PCI (Pharmacy Council of India), New Delhi has given access to the students online.
Finally, I thank "The Hans India" as it has taken its responsibility seriously and strived its level best in publishing such news and hope, the other leading regional newspapers come forward to know the public and see that the directions should be implemented properly but not to support the school managements by not publishing the news as they may get revenues from the school on their advertisements. - Nandu Palivela, Hanamkonda
