Last year in December 2018 Chief Secretary S.K Joshi was urged by the Lok Satta Udyama to cancel
the land acquisition proceedings December 29, 2018 for the construction of helipad at the residence of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekher Rao at Theegalaguttapalli on the town outskirts.
On Monday justice Challa Kodanda Ram of the Telangana high court issued notices to the state government, police and revenue authorities asking them to explain their stand on a petition that charged the authorities with resorting to hasty acquistition of land on the outskirts of Karimnagar to construct a helipad for Chief minister K Chandrashekher Rao.
The petition was filed by Puluguri Prathima and four others from siricilla district against a notification issued by the state to acquire 5 acres of land at Theegalaguttapalli village on the outskirts of Karimnagar for the construction of helipad where CM has a house in the village. CM' s relatives land was spared purposefully from acquistion while my clients land is being taken away said the petitioner counsel Raghunath.
V Raghunath the petitioner counsel told the court that the Land AcquistIon Act -2013 makes it mandatory for the authorities to show public purpose before commencing acquisition. But the current notification makes no such mention, he said.
There was an argument about why a new helipad has to be constructed inspite of already having two helipads on the premises of the Karminagar collectorate.
Refuting to this comment special counsel Sanjeev kumar said the two helipads were declared unfit from security point of view on account. Hence, we are planning a new one he said. And it is not solely to serve the purpose of CM but also to be used by other VVIP's as well.
Raghunath said the authorities were playing to the whims and fancies of the CM K Chandrashekher Rao.
