Hyderabad, Dec 27 : The Commercial Taxes Department on Thursday informed that the entertainment events are to be conducted on the eve of New Year 2019 would attract tax under the provisions of the TGST Act, 2017.
Therefore, all the organisers of New Year events have been asked to register under the TGST/CGST Acts as Casual Taxable Persons under Section 25(1) of the TGST/CGST Acts, if they are not already registered under the said Acts and required to pay advance tax @ 28% based on the estimated turnover before the commencement of the event.
"Any non-compliance in this regard will be viewed seriously. Apart from the GST tax due @ 28%, if wilful, penalty equal to tax (100%) will be imposed on the violators. For any further information, all the New Year event organisers asked to approach concerned circle officials or Toll Free Number. 18004253787, O/o Commissioner of State Tax, Nampally, Hyderabad. It is an earnest appeal to all organisers and the people participating in these events to enjoy the New Year celebrations after paying the taxes due to the government," the Commissioner of State Tax said in a press release today.
