The age old CBS Hanger popularly known as Mississippi Hanger at Gowliguda collapsed in the morning hours of Thursday. There were no casualties as the authorities had closed down the bus station for the last five days seeing the dilapidated condition of the bus station which was being used for the last 85 years.
Hyderabad: The age old CBS Hanger popularly known as Mississippi Hanger at Gowliguda collapsed in the morning hours of Thursday. There were no casualties as the authorities had closed down the bus station for the last five days seeing the dilapidated condition of the bus station which was being used for the last 85 years.
The hanger was constructed by Nizam ruler for parking his Transprt fleet. The bus stand was being used for city buses. This was used as main depot before the new Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station was constructed. Later, it was being used for city buses.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation authorities had planned to demolish this but because of the opposition from the locals, who wanted the authorities to preserve the site as it was historical.
The Transport Principal Secretary and in charge MD of TSRTC Sunil Sharma was slated to visit the site this morning. However the shed collapsed at around 7 AM on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Sunil Sharma said that the structure was very old and was in a dilapidated condition and it was not in use for the last five days.
