We are Nizami, Says Pakistan Jamaat

He was sentenced to death for war crimes in 2014, Motiur Rahman Nizami was hanged in a Dhaka prison during the night of 10/11 May. His followers call for paralyzing Bangladesh for twenty-four hours.

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has strongly protested the execution of war criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami by posting several pictures with the hashtag #WeAreNizami.

The Pakistan Jamaat replaced the profile and the cover pictures of the party's Facebook page with Nizami's picture and posted several pictures with the hashtag soon after the execution on Wednesday.

The party had previously condemned the execution of war criminal Abdul Quader Molla and issued statments supporting war criminals like Ghulam Azam who was the mastermind of many notorious war crimes here.

Pakistan and the Jamaat wing there had repeatedly demanded an halt to the war crimes trial in Bangladesh.

Al-badr kingpin Nizami was hanged to death at the Dhaka Central Jail at 12:10am Wednesday.

The three charges that brought Nizami's death sentence are: a) Conspiracy to commit crimes, killing 450 people, raping 30-40 women and deporting Hindus of three villages in Pabna’s Santhia on May 14, 1971, b) Ordering the murder of 30 people of Dhulaura village in Santhia on November 27, 1971 and c) Planning and executing the abduction, torture and murder of intellectuals and professionals in Dhaka and elsewhere in December 1971.

Nizami was the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami which openly opposed Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan in 1971. He was involved in mass murders and rapes of Bangalis in Pabna and massacre of intellectuals in Dhaka.

He was the chief of Jamaat’s student’ wing Islami Chhatra Sangha, members of which formed al-Badr militia.
