Tandur: A student of Sri Chaitanya School died on Thursday of severe dehydration caused by drinking of contaminated drinking water at the school. The deceased was identified as Sahasra, a UKG student of the private school. Mandal Education Officer Venkataiah Goud got the school seized following an agitation by students’ union. There are at least 80 students in the LKG and UKG classes of the school located in Sri Ayyappa Nagar.
According to the MEO and ABVP and AISF leaders Rajesh and Sudarsan, Sahasra developed severe dehydration on Wednesday upon drinking water provided by the school. But she recovered the same day because of the treatment provided by her parents. On Thursday, a recovered Sahasra returned to the school but suffered a bout of severe dehydration. She died while being taken to a hospital in Hyderabad to provide her better treatment. The students’ unions allege that the school management is threatening the parents to prevent them from filing a case.
