Summers are going to get worse in the coming month and that means more precautions of wellbeing against sun strokes. Consuming lot of liquids and juices becomes a part of the regime. It is always good to choose more healthy drinks as compared to the canned ones.
Take a look at some simple drinks that can be made at home without much effort. These drinks not only keep you hydrated, but they also come loaded with essential minerals and electrolytes.
Sol Kadhi
This drink is prepared with dried kokum, hot water, finely chopped garlic, chillies, red onions and coriander. Some people also add coconut milk. Soak the dried kokum in water in the fridge. Add the chillies, onions, coriander leaves and garlic so that the flavours blend in properly. Add the rock salt before serving chilled.
Jal Jeera
Jal Jeera is a well known drink all over the country. It is also available on the roadsides, but it is always safer too prepare one at home. The drink has cooling properties. Take a ball of tamarind, mint leaves, a spoonful of chaat masala, a pinch of black salt, half tea spoons of fennel and cumin seeds. Blend all the ingredients in ¾ cup water till smooth. Strain the water and add 3 to 4 cups of chilled water to this potion. Keep in the fridge until cool. Add boondi and a pinch of chaat masala before serving.
Masala Chaas
Perhaps the simplest drink to make, Masala Chaas or spiced buttermilk is very healthy for body. The drink is very effective for the body to cope with heat of the summer. Take buttermilk, add a dash of lemon, chaat masala and jeera powder. Drink after chilling the buttermilk for a while.
Lassi
Another popular drink with multiple health benefits, Lassi is also instant to prepare. Take a glass of curds or yogurt and grind to make a smooth texture. Add sugar, a pinch of salt and rose petals to the same. Lassi is an excellent coolant.
Nimbu Paani
A timeless classic this, Lemon water or Nimbu Paani is time tested to fight the grilling Indian summers. Take cold water, squeeze in a full lemon, and add sugar with a pinch of salt. The Paani is extremely delicious because of the lemony flavour. Children absolutely love it!
