About 100 mothers from various segments of society came together to walk the ramp for a fashion show organised as part of the ‘One Lakh Hands for Mom’ (OLH) initiative at Jalavihar, Necklace Road over the weekend.

The event was organised with support from Bharosa –Support Center for Women & Children, She teams and Photo Trade Expo with the theme, ‘Stronger the mother/ Stronger the family’.
“As part of this campaign, we are reaching out to one lakh sons and daughters to sensitise about the cause of women’s health who would then act as influencers to get their mothers to adopt an active life style. We are planning to conduct yearlong experiences/engagement activities in the areas of sports, arts & culture, entertainment, health and entrepreneurship areas to engage these enrolled mothers,” said Jai Bharathi, who is leading the OLH campaign.
As per the national Health Survey 2016, Hyderabad ranked number one in women obesity cases in India. “Lack of engagement activities at city level, infrastructure and lack of support from the family, stress are a few reasons for this. Therefore, we have adopted ‘Happy, Healthy & Strong Mother’ as a theme for our 2017 edition of One Lakh Hands campaign,” said Vishala Reddy, Founder Director of IdentCITY who has designed the project.
“We give least priority to ourselves in terms of health and social life. We think about families first. But we must know that if the mother is happy and healthy, the entire family will also be the same,” said Dr Mamatha Raghuveer, Tharuni NGO founder who works on women development initiatives.
Earlier, the ‘Photo Trade Expo’ was inaugurated by Cinematographer, Senthil Kumar, who applauded the interest of enthusiasts and their technical knowledge.
Organised by the Telangana Photographers and Videographers Welfare Association, the three-day event, which concluded on Sunday showcased latest cameras, video cameras and related equipment - like drone cameras, jimmy, stands, lights, sliders etc.
The concluding day had a road safety session from Jalaviar in which members of She Teams Bharosa took out a rally with over 100 bikers and 30 women.
“Hyderabad citizens feels traffic rules are headache for them like wearing helmet, jackets and seat belts. This programme tells about the safety is important everyone,” said a participant.
