Varun, Mohit win chess titles

V Varun and M Mohit Reddy emerged as the open and junior titlists in the 130th Brilliant Trophy chess tournament at Brilliant Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar.

Varun aggregated 5.5 points from six rounds of which he won five. Raghava Srivathsav and Karthik Kumar Pradeep with give points apiece finished second and third.

Mohit Reddy of St Peter’s Model School in Nacharam clinched the junior title after defeating Krishna Devarsh in the tie-break decider.

Later, K Sunilkumar, Senior Finance Manager of Indian Oil Corporation Limited gave away the prizes in the presence of Organising Secretary J Subrahmanyam.
